Launched in 2014 by the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, the Africa Initiative brings together 37 African member countries and 17 development partners. The Initiative is dedicated to helping African nations fully harness the benefits of transparency and the exchange of information (EOI) for tax purposes, with the goal of strengthening domestic resource mobilization and combatting tax evasion.

The 13th meeting of the Africa Initiative was hosted by South Africa’s Revenue Service (SARS) and officially opened by Hon. Enoch Godongwana, South Africa’s Minister of Finance. The event also featured a keynote address by H.E. Mr. Albert M. Muchanga, African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Mining.
